Trump Getting Indicted? Ohio State Trooper Shooting? And Whoopi is Back in the News! | #TheBlackWire002
Good Afternoon Black America, I am going to strive beginning on Monday to ensure The Black Wire is in your inbox by 10:00 AM EDT.
Now, let’s get to these headlines for the day!
Today is Friday, March 17, 2023. If you thought I was going to say something along the lines of how excited I am about St. Patrick’s Day. You would be wrong. Truth is I could give a damn about a holiday that started in Ireland to remember a guy from over 2,000 years ago.
I say it like that because there are a lot more troubling things that you and I should be worried about back here at home in the present day from another Ohio officer-involved shooting to parents being ok with their 15-year old’s carrying a gun.
Here are today’s top three stories:
Trump Facing Major Charges Next Week - Law Enforcement Agencies are Prepping!
As my mother used to tell me when I was growing up, “If you can’t do the time; don’t do the crime!” It is that statement I have tried to live by my entire life thus far.
While that isn’t true for the Former Occupant of The White House, he is about to begin to pay for some of his crimes. Maybe not all of them. At least the one where he paid off Stormy Daniels, an adult film star, in the closing days of the 2016 campaign to keep her quiet about their affair.
According to NBC News:
Local, state and federal law enforcement and security agencies are preparing for the possibility that former President Donald Trump will be indicted as early as next week, according to five senior officials familiar with the preparations.
Law enforcement agencies are conducting preliminary security assessments, the officials said, and are discussing potential security plans in and around the Manhattan Criminal Court, at 100 Centre Street.
Unbelievable Details Emerge From Officer-Involved Shooting That Was Almost Covered Up
It’s sad that in America we have become so used to hearing about officer-involved shootings. When one happens and it looks like it was attempted to be covered up until a local reporter found out that nearly a week later.
What, I described there took place in Columbus, Ohio of all places. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that the trooper attempted to stop the driver, but he would not pull over and continued driving onto State Route 161.
WBNS-10TV Reporter Lacey Crisp obtained the dashcam video, and what it shows is a black Mercedes-Benz speeding on Interstate-71. The trooper engaged in pursuit after the car for a few miles until the car pulled over.
After, the driver pulled over the dashcam footage does show him getting out of the car and that’s when the trooper gets out of his cruiser and immediately fires his gun at the guy. The trooper’s bullet did miss the guy.
WBNS-10TV is also reporting:
Three others who were inside the vehicle, were arrested. Diego Rangel (the driver) was charged with drug possession.
OSHP’s policy is that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations would investigate the incident if someone was injured, but since no one was struck, the investigation will be handled internally.
Bottom line: That Trooper didn’t need to fire his weapon because the dashcam video didn’t show his life or anyone else’s life in danger. In fact, when the driver exited his car he had his hands up.
The more shameful thing is that for almost a week the Columbus community nor did the country know that this officer-involved shooting had taken place.
Goldberg in Another Controversy: What are "They" Coming for Now?
Well, Well, Well, it seems our girl Whoopi can’t stay out of the headlines these days.
Apparently, she has said yet another derogatory slur on a recent episode of The View.
When describing how the former Occupant of The White House “45” felt cheated in the 2020 election, she stated that “he got ‘Gypsied’ somehow in the election.” The word has been historically used in negative reference to the Romani people.
In a video posted to Twitter, Whoopi said, “You know, when you’re a certain age, you use the words that you know from when you were a kid or you remember saying, and that’s what I did today, and I shouldn’t have.”
Black America, while everyone may be celebrating March 17th for an Irish man. We have another reason to celebrate:
W.E.B. Du Bois is born
A black woman is elected Manhattan borough president
Three-star Lieutenant general Frank Petersen is put in charge as commanding general for the Marine Corps Combat Development Command
All that really happened on this day in Black History.
But, I am going to take some time to focus on the story of Constance Baker Motley of New York because she is someone you need to be introduced to if you don’t know her already.
Constance Baker Motley was a civil rights lawyer who became involved with the movement after being discriminated against while attempting to enter a public library.
Motley began her studies at Fisk University, then New York University, before earning her law degree from Columbia Law School in 1946.
In 1964, Motley became the first black woman elected to the New York Senate. Motley broke barriers once more after being elected the first female president of the Manhattan borough the following year.
Before I let you go, I must tell you one final thing.
Thank You! For making the launch of The Black Wire a success. It truly means a lot to me. Even those of you who took the time to reach out to me via text, DM, and email to say you appreciate the newsletter.
I make you this promise that I made you when I launched UnBossed! Columbus and that is I will endeavor to put information in a context related to US. I know that very little news that makes it into the UnBossed! Columbus newsroom is born at that very moment.
Also, I will be the champion of facts and will not fall victim to the likes of mainstream media. I am not a waiter in some restaurant that serves you the stories that you ask for and that is prepared to your liking. Nor am I some computer, tablet, or device outputting information that only gives you the facts.
Why, because the news is only useful in the context of human intrigue. I will make no effort to hide personal opinions or personas either.
Until next time Black America! Remember to keep it real because your conciseness depends on it.
