EDITORIAL: Please, Quit Lecturing Black America!

The world may never know the truth about anything; but that doesn't mean someone can't have an opinion.

Tonight—

Let me be very clear about a few things!

First, I am not defending Bill Cosby. Take it as you may. Feel however the hell you choose to feel about that statement.

Secondly, today at this very moment I am defending Black America! I’m choosing to defend Black America, because we need someone to be a defense attorney for us, right now. We truly do need it!

Here are the facts:

1. Bill Cosby was released on yesterday, June 30, 2021 after he was convicted of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, at his home in 2004.

2. He served two years on a three-to-10 state prison sentence.

3. His sentence was vacated yesterday after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his 2018 sexual assault conviction, upending the first high-profile case of the #MeToo era. 

4. In its opinion, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court said a "non-prosecution agreement" with a former prosecutor prevented Cosby from facing charges.

5. The court said Bruce Castor, the former Montgomery County district attorney, declined to prosecute the case and gave Cosby the assurance he would not be criminally prosecuted if he testified in a civil case brought by Constand.

In the Pennsylvania Supreme Court dissent, Justices wrote:

1. "In light of these circumstances, the subsequent decision by successor D.A.s to prosecute Cosby violated Cosby's due process rights."

2. "There is only one remedy that can completely restore Cosby to the status quo ante," they continued. "He must be discharged, and any future prosecution on these particular charges must be barred. We do not dispute that this remedy is both severe and rare. But it is warranted here, indeed compelled."

Bill Cosby’s trial should have NEVER taken place to begin with! Based on the facts of this case which the Pennsylvania Supreme Court dissented upon. We know that Cosby was only convicted because a “white male” District Attorney wanted to play dirty to prove the point that he could put a win on his books that he locked up a high profile celebrity.

Some of you may wonder what I call this whole situation. Some may call it a “technicality” and I call it flat out what it is “FUCKED UP!”

LET ME EXPLAIN!

Back in 2005, Cosby was promised during a deposition “IMMUNITY” like the law enforcement officers get who kill unarmed black people. That’s why you can shoot and kill a man who you thought had a gun. But, it was only a cell phone.

Everyone, I need you to understand that Bill Cosby was granted that same immunity that the cops get. He was granted that for some reason or another that I don’t have the answer too. Because I guarantee you, he never would have spoken at that deposition nor would his attorney’s allowed him too. That gave him the same level of protection the cops get.

Only evidence they had on Cosby was that they reneged on a deal and then lied.

Essentially, breaking there own DAMN LAWS!

Now, that doesn’t mean I am defending him but I am tired of people not telling it like it is.

Secondly, in this matter he CONFESSED to recreational use of drugs with all the women. He never confessed to drugging them to get them to have sex with him. All of us know the difference because either you know a recreational drug user or you are a recreational drug user. 

At the end of the day, he admitted it was illegal to SHARE his drugs. That’s all he did! Nobody knows what happened between them besides those women and him. There is a reason it is INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty. There was not enough PROOF to actually SAY, he committed a crime beyond a shadow of doubt to make it STICK.

We can’t assume the women were lying, but WE definitely can’t assume he’s guilty.

Black America’s Defense

Right now, the reason why I am choosing to defend Black America is because it has been told to me that we don’t know how to be UNBAISED. We NEED to LEARN to LOOK PASS our BLACKNESS. My question is: Why Should We Look Past Our Blackness When The Rest Of The Country Doesn’t?

Everyone, mainly White America ya’ll need to make your DAMN mind up?

There are a lot Black People getting hurt by “cops” and “karens.” When Black Media covers those stories you all seemed appalled. But, now that it’s Bill Cosby whom you don’t like you say we should look pass our blackness. Sounds a little hypocritical if you ask me.

Let Me Tell You This

While all of us including myself have taken time to litigate whether Cosby was RIGHT or WRONG; what have any of us done during this time to focus on REAL ISSUES impacting us locally.

Here in Columbus, I bet majority of you all didn’t even realize that there were six fentanyl drug overdoses down at the Franklin County Jail on Jackson Pike on Friday.

Out of the six; three died as a result of a drug overdose.

Currently, right now as this is being written there was a missing black 12-year-old girl named Cynthia Anna Aagard. She has since been returned home to her parents, safely.

Let me say this and be very clear; no matter how you feel about the original post I shared written by a Facebook friend of mine you can not say until just now that I have given an opinion.

Who gives two fucks anymore about Bill Cosby!

Not only that but you all need to refocus your energy on the more important issues.

For example, there is a local election coming up in November for school board, city council, city auditor, and attorney.

Do you know who is running?

Do you know what their platform is?

Do you know what their stance is on policing reform, education reform, or even criminal justice reform?

Chances are most ya’ll answered NO to at least two of those questions.

White America and White Columbus I say this is to you: Quite worrying about what you may never know the truth about. Keeping in mind that doesn’t mean someone can't have an opinion which is different from yours.

Sure their opinion may be traumatizing to you about the subject.

But, if that’s the case you need to see a therapist to begin to work through that trauma.
